To seek out untapped source material and daring, challenging new work in need of development. To provide a creative, collaborative space designed to incubate exceptional and complex projects. To produce unique performance experiences that connect deeply with our audience and artistic community.
Founded in 2008 around our inaugural production, “The Doctor and the Devils”, Rag and Bone has evolved considerably over the years, with a fluid but constantly active ensemble of artists, under the Artistic Direction of Dan Balkin.
After two highly successful adaptive works (“The Doctor and the Devils”, “Gin & Jazz: Inspired by the Tales of F. Scott Fitzgerald”), Rag and Bone began a series of workshops for the Company around exploring the paintings and sensabilities of Pablo Picasso in performance. Company members also began to seek out and read new works by up-and-coming playwrights, shifting the focus of the company toward developing challenging and exceptional original theater in New York.
Rag and Bone is always open to receive submissions by playwrights, actors, designers, and any other theater-makers who wish to get involved. All press, industry, and commercial inquiries are encouraged, as well. firstname.lastname@example.org
