“Mindreader is easily the most intense, thrilling theatrical experience I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to do it again.”
-Tom Lawler, Chicago Now
Mindreader, an interactive theatre experience that started in 2013 in Chicago’s Public House Theater, is a live-action video game as much as it is a performance. Audience members/players enter in small groups, proceeding through multiple rooms, interacting with performers in order to advance to the next room. Players must solve a series of puzzles individually, aided by their own super-power: they can read minds (through the magic of theatre). This power allows the players to manipulate the performers, resulting in moments comedic and dramatic, and sometimes terrifying.
